  1. 225g butter, softened, plus extra for greasing
  2. 225g caster sugar
  3. 4 large free-range eggs
  4. 100g self-raising flour
  5. 1 tsp baking powder
  6. 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  7. A little milk

For the icing

  1. 250g dark chocolate
  2. 250g butter, softened
  3. 175g icing sugar

Method

  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 180°C/fan160°C/gas 4. Grease 2 x 20cm sandwich tins with a little butter and base line with baking paper. In a bowl, beat together the butter and sugar with an electric hand whisk until light and fluffy.#
  2. 2. Add the eggs, 1 at a time, beating after each addition. Sift in the flour, baking powder and cocoa, then lightly fold into the mixture. Add a little milk until you have a dropping consistency, then divide between the tins.
  3. 3. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean. Leave to cool in the tin for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  4. 4. Melt the chocolate in a bowl over a pan of simmering water, then cool slightly. In a bowl, beat the butter and icing sugar together with an electric hand whisk until light and fluffy, then fold in the melted chocolate.
  5. 5. Spread some icing over 1 of the cakes, top with the other cake and the rest of the icing.

swim dope.

born and growing up in Birmingham, trying to think has it really got to offer anything different. the excitement of the upcoming 3 piece SWIM DEEP is becoming a world wide infection. knowingly Austin, Zachary and Higgy already have a clutch of fans, from releasing their new song "King City" and within 24 hours gaining themselves over 2000 plays, bagged themselves no.1 in NME's Buzz List and finding themselves on blogs all over the world, it's clear all 3 of them have gained what they have been waiting for. They are a huge cocktail of dream surf grunge POP, and clearly something that has never come out of birmingham before, which is what makes them so exciting, this is not me being biased, as I'm dating their drummer, but they are the most deserved beach escapists, and reading through blogs//write ups; King City is the best song everyone's heard this year.
KING CITY.

pink lights means a disco

being a sour puss the past few months, i deserved a well earned break and i got it. for christmas my bf booked for us both to go to Paris for new years and 4 nights, everyone was jealous as fuck and it was the best thing ever. after a wake of 5:30am on new years eve i was feeling the best, we arrived at the airport and drank beer at 7:30am. early mornings don't suit me but i forgot how much airports ruled. we eventually arrived in paris about 11. i found out this day that tubes where double deckered, zacks armpits smelt curry powder and we had the comfiest bed in the world. paris is beautiful i would snog it, i would snog the spaghetti we ate in that cool restaurant on new years ever and i would most defiantly snog the effiel tower, -the lady that's married to it should allow me, did you know she fingers herself everyday at the top of the tower- we found a boat party with pink lights, had endless shots of coffee, beer, saw a woman punch a car that bibbed at her, realised how much my bf looks like macaulay culkin, went to disney land, got given a tissue by an oriental taxi driver and got fined by a french bitch on the train.

making space biscuits

a few days ago, i took the time to do some cooking. after my mom told me to make macaroni for 5 i wondered what to make for pudding- then it clocked that i haven't made space biscuits for a while. they're the second best pudding in the world, after flapjack of course. if you're oblivious as to what i'm talking about, they are basically Cannabis foods, also known as "hash brownies" but these were no brownies, but pure sweet biscuits. go make some- here is what you will need
175g/6oz Plain Flour
100g/4oz Butter or Margarine
50g/2oz Caster Sugar

10/8th Crushed Weed (Depending on how much you want)
1 tbs Cold Water
1 baking tray

Now to cook:
preheat the oven to 190degrees.
put the butter in the microwave for about 20 seconds until it's a fat paste. mix the crushed weed with 4/5th of the butter. with the rest of the butter grease the baking tray so it wont be a struggle to get the biscuits off the tray.
now mix the butter (and weed), flour and caster sugar. keep on mixing it for a few minutes until it's nice and smooth. If it's to dry: add 1 tbs. if its to much of a liquid: add a little flour.
once the mixture is together, section it into 5/6 balls and flatten them out onto the greased tray, and leave in the oven for 10-12 minutes until brown around the edges. take out and leave to stand.
TIP: heat up the 8TH with a lighter and crumble it in the butter
